A study led by Fernanda Rossi Paolillo and her team looked at how using infrared light during exercise could help postmenopausal women improve their fitness and recovery. The study involved 45 women who were split into three groups: one group did treadmill exercises with infrared light therapy, another group just did treadmill exercises, and a third group didn’t exercise at all. The women who exercised did so twice a week for six months, working at a high intensity to push their heart rates to 85–90% of their maximum. The infrared light was used during the treadmill sessions to see if it could boost the benefits of the exercise.
The results showed that both the group using infrared light and the group just doing exercise improved their endurance and exercise performance. However, the group with infrared light therapy did even better. They were able to exercise for longer, worked harder, and felt less fatigue during exercise. They also recovered faster after their workouts. This suggests that adding infrared light therapy during exercise can help postmenopausal women not only improve their fitness but also recover more quickly, making it a useful tool for enhancing exercise results.
